  • You'll meet and experience a moving performance from our 2019 Solidarity Arts Fellows! They comprise of 15 amazing Muslim American and Japanese American college students, organizers, artists, healers, & more.

  • Look forward to learning about Ramadan, as well as our growing legacy of breaking the fast together, as a multi-ethnic, inter-spiritual community!

  • Be prepared to feel energized, creative, and more connected in our movement for safety and justice.

Our vigil and healing space will serve as an opportunity for our Muslim community to gather, process and engage in healing practices. We will also share what actions can be taken with regards to the likely impact on dangerous Countering Violent Extremism policies for those impacted.

Stories of Displacement

In conjunction with "What We Carried: Fragments & Memories from Iraq & Syria," stories of displacement as experienced by a variety of communities will be shared. Perspectives will include those of recent Iraqi and Syrian refugees and Japanese Americans incarcerated during WWII. Additional issues at the forefront today, such as deportation and gentrification, will also be explored. Participants will discuss what they were able to bring, but also what they were forced to leave behind.

Presented in partnership with JANM, Vigilant Love and Activate Labs.

From the Muslim Ban to the mass incarceration and criminalization of immigrant families & communities of color, we hope you join us in resistance for our communities.

Fifteen Years Later Screening & Panel

Join Vigilant Love and White People for Black Lives (WP4BL) for an exclusive screening of “Fifteen Years Later” followed by a panel discussion with the filmmaker, cast and local activists. This gripping short film explores the lived realities of those impacted by bias and violence in a post-9/11 era. The event will include a discussion on local Islamophobic policies and the role of allies in building solidarity with those on the frontlines.

This screening will be in honor of the worldwide online release of the film on the Vigilant Love website! Stay tuned for details regarding the link and release for the day following the screening.

About the Film:
Sam and Jason, two young men who have absorbed the psychological effects of post-9/11 America in ways they may not fully understand, find their buried issues and resentments bubbling to the surface when their lives intersect during a police traffic stop. Starring Manish Dayal, Matt McGorry, Tracy Mulholland, and Rachel Brosnahan.
